(After failing to get Uriah to go home to Bathsheba to cover his adultery with her) David wrote a letter to Joab (his ruthless commander) and sent it by the hand of Uriah (to make sure Uriah would die in battle) 2 Samuel 11:14,15

Sin always takes you farther than you want to go. Trent Stewart, Grace, Knoxville

(Obeying David’s order to get Uriah killed, Joab deliberately sent soldiers too close to the enemy and sent this message to David) the archers shot at your servants from the wall; 18 of the king's servants are dead (including the priest), and your servant Uriah the Hittite is also dead. 2 Samuel 11:24

Those that set in motion the forces of evil cannot always control them afterwards. Charles W. Chesnutt, 1858-1932

David told the messenger (who reported the military ‘mistake’ that cost 18 lives including Uriah’s – war kills indiscriminately, tell Joab to keep up the good work), and Uriah’s wife became David’s wife and bore him a son. 2 Samuel 11:25-27

Eachwrong act brings with it its own anesthetic, dulling the conscience and blinding it against further light, and sometimes for years. Letters to a Friend, RoseMacaulay

(David’s adultery and murder of Uriah) was evil in the sight of the Lord. Then the Lord sent Nathan (prophet and friend) to David. 2 Samuel 11:27 – 12:1.

no matter how far you have gone out to sea the Lord will not leave you. .Jesus is the life guard that will brave the currents and will go after you no matter how deep or how cold the water is. Tony Rhoda, Teen Daily Devotional Ministry

The rich man had huge flocks of sheep, herds of cattle. The poor man had nothing but one little female lamb, which he had bought and raised. It grew up with him and his children as a member of the family. It ate off his plate and drank from his cup and slept on his bed. It was like a daughter to him. "One day a traveler dropped in on the rich man. He was too stingy to take an animal from his own herds or flocks to make a meal for his visitor, so he took the poor man's lamb and prepared a meal to set before his guest." David exploded in anger. "As surely as God lives," he said to Nathan, "the man who did this ought to be lynched! He must repay for the lamb four times over for his crime and his stinginess!" "You're the man!" said Nathan. 2 Samuel 12:2-7a

It isimpossible for a man to be freed from the habit of sin before he hates it.. St. Ignatius
